A great role model for her siblings

  • 2 min read

Charlotte’s journey in education has been full of challenges.

During her teen years, she had to relocate to her grandmother’s house in Spain while having an ill parent.

When she returned to England hoping to continue her studies, she was unable to rejoin her school mid term, as teachers believed she was too far behind to catch up. Despite this setback, Charlotte remained determined.

Shortly after, her mother sadly passed away and Charlotte became the main carer for her siblings. Her siblings became her driving force.

”I had to do something. I needed to show them that it is doable and you can get a career”

Determined to continue learning, Charlotte contacted local colleges, but her age prevented her from enrolling. She didn’t give up and eventually discovered Birmingham Adult Education Service through a Google search.

After attending an initial assessment, Charlotte was pleased to find she was at GCSE level. Though initially overwhelmed by her first class, she successfully completed the course, achieving a Grade 6 in GCSE English.

Today, Charlotte works as an accountant, is studying for her GCSE Maths, and is learning Spanish in her free time. Looking ahead, she hopes to pursue a career in psychology or social work.

Congratulations on this milestone Charlotte, we wish you continued success!
