From diplomacy student to future academic

  • 2 min read

Before coming to the UK, Farhad was studying Diplomacy at a university in Afghanistan while working as a manager.

During his final semester, the situation in his country became unsafe, forcing him to leave. Farhad arrived in the UK determined to integrate and build a new future. He enrolled at our Selly Oak Centre, where he began developing his English language skills.

Alongside his studies, he secured agency work, gaining confidence both in and out of the classroom.
As his English continues to improve, Farhad is now planning to return to university and is keen to explore his options with the Find my Future team. He hopes his journey will inspire others in his community to see that an academic pathway is achievable.

Reflecting on the opportunities education has given him, Farhad says:

“In this country, I have an opportunity to follow my dreams. I know it’s hard, but it’s not impossible. Nothing is impossible, and coming here motivates me to follow my dreams.”

Now calling Birmingham his second home, Farhad is committed to continuing his studies and giving back through education.

A true lover of books, he holds on to even the most challenging titles, confident that as his English develops, he will one day read them fluently.
