For Lidia, learning is an opportunity to show her children that with determination, anything is achievable.
She began her adult learning journey as an ESOL learner and, a few years later, decided to enrol on an IT course to feel confident and connected in an increasingly digital world. Before enrolling, Lidia had never used a computer.
Less than a year later, she can confidently open, save, and print files — progress she speaks about with pride.
A mother of four, Lidia draws much of her motivation from her children. Her eldest actively supports her with IT skills at home, while her determination to create a better future for her family continues to drive her forward.
Even while pregnant, Lidia remained committed to her studies and speaks warmly of the staff who supported and accommodated her throughout that stage of her learning journey. She has a strong interest in Health and Social Care and has already been successful in securing an interview, which she is now awaiting the outcome of.
Developing her IT skills has opened new opportunities, allowing her to apply for roles online and explore job options closer to home. As she continues to build her confidence, Lidia remains committed to improving her English. Her journey will not stop once she secures a job.
