Who are we and what do we do?
We are the Employment Team for Birmingham Adult Education Service, we are part of Birmingham City Council and funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority. Our team works together with Job Centre Plus to train jobseekers so that they have the skills and knowledge needed to make the most of current job opportunities in the region.
We have many years of experience of working with small, medium and large businesses and have had great success in getting a large number of people ready to fill vacant positions in the following employment sectors: Retail, Hospitality and Customer Service | Construction | Logistics | Health and Social Care | Business, IT and Office work.
How can we help your business?
We are here to take the frustration out of the recruitment process and help you to find the right people to join your business. We will work on your behalf to provide candidates for interview who are both available to start working immediately and are job-ready.
All of our training is delivered by qualified teachers with a wealth of experience in education and recruitment.
Our training is completely free to your business and usually delivered over two to three weeks in one of our adult learning centres.
What we need from you
All that we ask from you is that your business has a number of live vacancies that it is looking to fill. A member of your organisation will need to be available to interview our learners for these positions with a view to employing any suitable candidates.
We also ask that there is someone available from your business who can attend at some point during the course to talk to our learners about your company and what the potential job entails.
How pre-employment training works
We work with you to create a bespoke training course that is right for you. It is a quick and easy process as follows –
- A member of our team will meet with you to discuss the skills, qualifications and experience you seek so that we understand your needs and can achieve the best results for you.
- We design a bespoke training programme for your business. Before we start recruiting to the course, we will meet with you to make sure that you are happy with your programme.
- We find suitable candidates and deliver a short training course.
- At the end of the course we provide candidates for you to interview.
Unique training programme that is tailor made around your needs
We work with you to create a training package that is right for you.
Our programme aims to develop a range of transferable work skills that are relevant to most jobs. This includes; customer service, problem solving, teamwork, time-keeping and behaviour in the workplace.
Dependent on the type of work involved in the job we can add short qualifications such as Food Safety or Health & Safety (including COSHH), safeguarding, IT and computers.
